  1. Education: Grimke believes that girls are receiving an "imperfect education" which trains them to be domestic instead of intellectual. She speaks about how its of a bigger deal to interrupt a girl who is in the kitchen than one who is studying.

  2. The "laboring class":
    -Women are not respected in their work
    -If she did not have a husband, but had children she was unable to leave home to work to support her family. She generally had to work out of her home for very minimal income/physical labor. She usually made just enough money to get by
    -Wealthy people actually paid less for the services that these poor women provided for them
    -Educated women are deemed inferior
